It's no secret that my favourite game is Half-Life 2, and always have been. My childhood obsession with the coolness of that world only transformed into something more mature appreciation.
I have touched many aspects of the HL world in one way or another (making characters for mods, modeling smaller things like a headcrab or zombie), but nothing came to this in terms of scope. Although I'd love to work at Valve on their next HL ;). I wanted a full character and i like valve's realistic yet stylized approach but didn't want just a photoreal model. I've been sitting on Oleg Bulakh's concept of an Alyx wanting to make it, and finally did. Some things I changed, especially the head I wanted to bring it more closer to the original actors face, but I loved the concept and the proportions and character it had.
Sculpted in zbrush, I retopoed in maya and built a rig with Advanced Skeleton which i had to learn first, and i was very reluctant, I tried 2 other rigging thing in Blender but could make it work as i wanted. I wanted to make the rig work with Unreal and have the metahuman head rig attached to it. In the end I find AS very comprehensive and awesome tool, but rigging is not something I love to do. I also used the metahuman facial rig.
It was along project mainly because i had to change GPU and CPU along the way in order to fully utilize UE5, and that wasn't easy.
Thanks for looking, always appreciate the support. Now the only question is should i make it printable and print it? :)
